Join Sunday Power as an IoT Engineer to accelerate the energy transition, developing and scaling innovative edge computing solutions that power commercial real estate towards a sustainable future.

We're looking for

\* 2+ years of experience in backend, or infrastructure software development.

\* A quick learner and self-starter who's comfortable taking on responsibility

\* Interest in managing, scaling, and optimizing a fleet of edge computers, including data transmission/processing and remote troubleshooting.

\* Capability to design and implement robust security measures for edge devices, including secure firmware/software update processes.

\* Willingness to be hands-on with product rollout and implementation in the field.

Bonus points if you have:

\* Linux system administration skills, including proficiency in networks and shell scripting

\* Proficiency in embedded Linux environments, including Yocto or buildroot experience.

\* Experience with renewable energy technology, or SCADA.

\* Familiarity with Energy Management Systems (EMS).

\* Experience with or a strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, MQTT) and creative problem-solving for integrating diverse hardware, potentially with limited documentation.

About the Role

POWERING THE FUTURE WITH SMART IOT

Sunday Power is at the forefront of the energy transition, building and deploying smart renewable energy solutions for commercial real estate. As our IoT Engineer, you will be central to the evolution of our proprietary edge computer, SundayBox. This critical device collects data from our solar installations and controls inverters, with future plans to integrate batteries and EV-chargers. You will play a pivotal role in making our IoT pipeline more scalable and robust, directly impacting our mission to accelerate sustainable energy adoption. This is a unique opportunity to work on a product that spans hardware, software, and cloud infrastructure, ensuring our systems are reliable, secure, and ready for the next generation of renewable energy technologies. You'll be joining a small, dedicated tech team with a CPO, CTO, and four developers, operating in a flat hierarchy where your contributions and ideas are highly valued. In our team we value good engineering practices (version control, peer-review, reproducible builds) while staying flexible on technology, plans and process to keep both speed and quality as high as we can.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Your core responsibilities will involve a blend of development, deployment, and strategic integration:

💻 SundayBox Development

Develop current and future versions of our edge computer, SundayBox, enhancing its capabilities and performance.

🚀 Fleet Management

Roll out, manage, and scale our fleet of edge computers, ensuring optimal operation and reliability.

🔌 Hardware Integration

Integrate our technology with new hardware brands and diverse unit types, including batteries and EV-chargers, across various protocols.

🔗 Supply Chain & Operations

Manage the supply chain for our edge computing needs, from procurement to deployment.

🛡️ System Security

Implement and maintain robust security measures, including secure firmware/software update processes for deployed devices.

🧠 Scalability & Stability

Contribute to building a scalable, stable, and maintainable IoT architecture designed for long-term growth and new features.
