The Opportunity

As the Senior Director, Medical Affairs, Epilepsies Lead, you will be responsible for supporting the entire portfolio by defining and executing a comprehensive strategy that supports the product life lifecycle – from late-stage clinical development through post-marketing and safety monitoring.

You’ll report to and collaborate closely with the Head of Global Medical Affairs.  In this critical role you’ll lead all Medical Affairs enabling functions for their therapeutic area, including operational execution, external vendor oversight, and budget management.  You’ll establish and maintain strong relationships with the medical and scientific community, including key opinion leaders and patient advocacy organizations, to support scientific exchange, inform strategy, and identify emerging medical and healthcare trends.

You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure alignment of the therapeutic area Medical Affairs strategy with overall corporate objectives and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and standard operating procedures.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as the Medical Affairs leader for the therapeutic area, both internally and externally, representing Praxis with KOLs, investigators, patient advocacy groups, and at scientific and industry forums.
• Lead the development and execution of integrated medical brand and disease-state strategies, including advisory boards, congress planning and execution, field medical tactics, publication strategy, and medical review activities.
• Proactively build and manage relationships with healthcare professionals, academic institutions, and patient advocacy organizations relevant to the therapeutic area.
• Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Business Insights, Business Development, Finance, Legal, and other functions to support and advance corporate strategic objectives.
• Develop and execute Medical Affairs plans, including publication planning, medical advisory boards, educational programs, training initiatives, and scientific conferences.
• Lead the development, execution, and governance of Investigator-Initiated Studies (IIS) and company-sponsored research strategies.
• Oversee external vendors and operational activities to ensure timely, high-quality, and compliant execution.

Qualifications and Key Success Factors

• Advanced degree (MD or DO) with 10+ years of experience in Medical Affairs and/or clinical research; Epileptologist preferred, though will consider PharmD or PhD candidates with relevant experience.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in Medical Affairs or Clinical Research with a consistent record of high performance.
• Strong people leadership, collaboration, and team-building skills.
• Proven ability to organize and lead scientific advisory panels and to clearly communicate complex scientific and medical information to internal and external stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of U.S. regulations governing Medical Affairs activities.
• High intellectual curiosity with an innovative, problem-solving mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust-based relationships and foster diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with a strong commitment to quality and compliance.
• Ability to lead by example, develop talent, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and foster a collaborative, high-performing culture.

To round out our world-class total rewards package, we provide annualized base salary compensation in the range listed below.  This position may be filled with an incumbent who has an MD/DO, or with PharmD or PhD depending on qualifications and business needs.

MD/DO Candidate: $300,000 -  $335,000     

Non MD/DO Candidate: $275,000 - $295,000

These ranges reflect the base salary ranges the Company reasonably expects to pay for each level at the time of posting. Placement within the range will be based on job-related factors, including experience, qualifications, scope of responsibilities, and demonstrated track record of delivering results in similar roles.

$275,000—$335,000 USD
