Senior HW Engineer

A European product engineering team developing next-generation radar and perception technologies for automotive and industrial applications is expanding its R&D group.

The company works on advanced sensor systems combining radar, computer vision, machine learning and embedded platforms. Engineers are involved in the entire development cycle, from research and architecture design to real-time implementation and product deployment.

The team brings together experts in signal processing, electronics, robotics and AI, creating products for demanding international markets. Projects include advanced radar systems, functional safety, high-performance embedded computing and close collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Location: Belgrade, Niš (Serbia) / Skopje (North Macedonia)

Work format: On-site, full-time

We are looking for a Senior HW Engineer to participate in the development of hardware architectures for industrial safety systems.

Responsibilities

*🌸*Define and develop hardware architectures for industrial safety systems;

*🌸*Participate in presales activities such as RFI/RFQ responses, including technical requirements analysis, and providing resource, timeline, and material cost estimations;

*🌸*Lead PCB design and testing of hardware solutions, using simulation tools and lab equipment to verify performance and adherence to both system and regulatory requirements;

*🌸*Ensure designs meet regulatory standards and requirements regarding both development practices and technical aspects, such as EMI/EMC and environmental aspects;

*🌸*Collaborate closely with stakeholders, providing regular updates and solutions to keep projects on track;

*🌸*Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers;

*🌸*Perform safety analysis of the design;

*🌸*Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Failure Mode, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA) to identify potential failure points and improve system dependability;

*🌸*Perform reliability calculations to verify design decisions and validate safety requirements.

Requirements

*💦*Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering;

*💦*10+ years of professional experience, with at least 7+ years in hardware design;

*💦*Experience in electronics product development from the whitepaper based on customer requirements through design, including schematics and layout, purchasing of materials, manufacturing, and testing/commissioning of the product;

*💦*Deep knowledge of IPC standards, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and collaboration with EMS partners for PCB production and assembly (medium to large series);

*💦*Ability to estimate project timelines, resource allocation, and material costs;

*💦*Strong leadership and team management skills are considered an advantage;

*💦*Deep understanding of mixed-signal design principles, including analog and digital circuits;

*💦*Knowledge of functional safety standards (IEC 61508 or similar), FMEA/FMEDA methodologies, and certification processes is a big plus;

*💦*Proficiency in PCB schematic/layout tools (e.g. Altium, OrCAD), simulation software (e.g. SPICE, LTSpice, Tina), and Design for Test (DFT);

*💦*Hands-on experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques, environmental testing procedures, and reliability engineering approaches is a plus;

*💦*Working proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
