What you'll be doing

• Develop models to extend voice support to languages other than English.
• Design and implement language support for new Roku features and functionality.
• Collect and analyze spoken and written language data to improve our models, capturing a wide variety of expressions in rule-based or machine-learned systems.
• Maintain existing systems, recognizing issues and applying the right tools to debug and solve problems.

You are required to have

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Linguistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
• 5 years progressive experience in position, as a NLM Engineer, NLP Engineer, Speech and Language Analyst, Analytical Linguist, or related occupation.
• Will also accept a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Linguistics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field plus 3 years of experience in position, as a NLM Engineer, NLP Engineer, Speech and Language Analyst, Analytical Linguist, or related occupation.
• Must have at least 2 years of prior work experience in each of the following:

+ Spoken natural language applications

+ Core linguistics: semantics, syntax, morphology, phonology, phonetics, discourse and dialogue

+ Rule-based grammars and machine learning for NLP

+ Cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing large natural language data sets

+ Scripting programming languages

+ Version control and collaborative software development

Telecommuting permitted: may work at various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.

The annual salary for this position for CA only is $212,500 - $225,250.

Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location.

Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams work in the office Monday through Thursday. Fridays are flexible for remote work except for employees whose roles are required to be in the office five days a week or employees who are in offices with a five day in office policy.
