The Global AI Engineering Team

Weʼre looking for a Senior Manager of AI Engineering to join our global team and lead our US-based group of AI engineers, working in close partnership with peers in India. The team is dedicated to building high-impact, user-facing AI features. Together, weʼre delivering applied AI solutions that transform employee and customer experiences, while building the agentic AI solutions that make innovation scalable and secure.

The Senior Manager, AI Engineering Opportunity

What you'll be doing

• Lead and grow an AI engineering team in US as part of a unified global AI team.
• Partner with Product Managers and peers to define priorities, share roadmaps, and deliver projects that matter.
• Build and scale the Agentic AI solutions — enabling reusable AI agents, orchestration, and enterprise-grade guardrails.
• Deliver Applied AI solutions that improve productivity, decision-making, and customer/employee experiences.
• Ensure engineering excellence through secure design, scalable architectures, and reliable delivery.
• Collaborate across functions — Security, Infrastructure, Data, and Business stakeholders — to accelerate AI adoption at scale.

What you'll bring to the role

• For 12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in applied AI/ML or intelligent automation.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams in US while collaborating daily with India-based counterparts.
• Hands-on knowledge of LLMs, AI agent frameworks, orchestration platforms, RAG pipelines, and vector search.
• Experience with cloud-native platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure), APIs, and microservices at scale.
• A people leader who can coach, mentor, and build high-performing teams.
• Strong communicator with the ability to align across time zones, cultures, and functions.

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in San Francisco Bay Area. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:

$232,000—$290,000 USD
