As a Senior Security Engineer, you will be a key contributor in establishing and maintaining robust cybersecurity for Waymo's innovative products and services. You will be responsible for evaluating system elements, defining comprehensive cybersecurity concepts, and performing threat analysis and risk assessments. You will define and manage security requirements, determine risk treatment approaches, and collaborate closely with engineering and safety teams throughout the product lifecycle to understand and mitigate practical security and safety implications. Your role will also involve ensuring continuous compliance with relevant standards across multiple projects.

You will:

• Collaborate with engineering on security during design, development and testing
• Develop security related tooling for security and engineering teams
• Perform technical security assessments, code audits and design reviews.
• Assist with technical solutions to mitigate security vulnerabilities.
• Conduct research to identify new attack vectors against Waymo products and services.
• Develop Threat Models using industry best practices
• Generate security requirements for Waymo engineering and suppliers

You have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in product security and system security
• Understand C and C++
• Solid understanding of Cryptography
• System security of complex architectures.
• Network / Server side security, Authentication (AAA)
• Threat Modeling, Security Best Practices
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills

We prefer:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Cloud infrastructure security, auth (AAA)
• Experience with protecting APIs
• Experience in operating system internals and hardening (e.g. Linux, Android)
• Experience in code auditing
• Experience writing security requirements
• Experience with network protocols and secure network design
• Experience with secure Server to Device / Device to server network communications

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the role location or, if the role can be performed remote, the specific salary range for your preferred location, during the hiring process. 

Waymo employees are also eligible to participate in Waymo’s discretionary annual bonus program, equity incentive plan, and generous Company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.

$204,000—$259,000 USD
