The Core Automation team envisions a future where AI-powered operations lead to seamless, delightful experiences for customers and maximum value for shareholders. Towards this vision, our strategy is to 1) start with automating two key areas with Agentic AI: Customer Support and Compliance, 2) incorporate learnings from this automation experience and build primitives and orchestration solutions that allow us to scale and 3) scale across a variety of domains enabling AI to enhance every part of customer experience and internal processes.

It’s day 1 for us. We’re laser focused on automating customer support and compliance processes today. This is not just focused on driving efficiencies by automating manual processes, but reimagining what processes and systems must look like in a fully AI driven automated world, and then bring that vision to reality working across cross functional teams to offer a delightful customer experience, improving compliance posture and delivering outsized shareholder value.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Design and implement Agentic AI systems that power Coinbase’s customer support experience and compliance processes
• Design a platform (primitives, orchestration platform, tools, etc.) that would allow other domains to quickly leverage Agentic AI to automate their processes
• Interact with stakeholders in many different organizations that build Coinbase products or are responsible for financial operations
• Participate in shaping of the strategy and execution path of Coinbase Platform
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

• 12 + years of experience in backend software engineering using Golang or similar languages
• Experience getting LLM based application to production
• Proven track record of delivering impactful solutions that power significant customer flows and processes
• You’ve experience in architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• Strong technical knowledge of building distributed systems that process massive scale
• Solid communication skills and ability to communicate to stakeholders with various technical and non-technical backgrounds
• Relentless drive to set and perseverance to achieve ambitious goals
• Passion for building an open financial system that brings the world together

Nice to haves:

• Experience with LLM and Agentic AI. Measuring and improving LLMs’ grounding to a given corpus and experience reducing hallucinations is a big plus.
• Experience in the customer support, compliance or financial crimes domains
• Experience having made build/buy decisions

Pay Transparency Notice:Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility and benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Annual base salary range (excluding equity and bonus):

$253,895—$298,700 USD
