Senior Technical Product Manager, Security (DDoS)

Fastly is seeking a curious, collaborative, and customer-obsessed Senior Technical Product Manager to lead the evolution of our network resilience and DDoS protection products. In this role, you will unite the power of Fastly’s global infrastructure with the simple, elegant design our customers rely on, turning complex mitigation mechanics into a seamless, intuitive security experience.

As a Senior Technical Product Manager on Fastly’s Security Product Team, you will drive the strategy for our DDoS and network resilience products, leveraging the immense scale of Fastly’s global network to deliver unshakable availability for the world’s most critical applications. You will collaborate on our ambitious vision for a resilient future where engineers thrive and disruptions are neutralized.

What You'll Do:

• Drive the strategy and roadmap: lead the definition and execution of Fastly’s network security and DDoS protection roadmap, expanding our capabilities to protect the entire technology stack, from sophisticated application attacks to massive infrastructure threats. You will synthesize product opportunities across disparate data points, including attack trends, customer tickets, and market research, to prioritize features with pragmatism. You will collaborate with engineering and fellow Product Managers to ensure these capabilities interact cohesively with the broader Fastly platform
• Simplify the "under attack" experience: obsess over the user journey during critical moments. You will refine our workflows, striving for automated mitigation that reduces time-to-relief and turns panic into peace of mind
• Evangelize and empower: be the voice of the product. Build a strong feedback loop with Sales, Security Operations, and Revenue teams. You will arm the field with the confidence to win competitive opportunities. Present the product vision to diverse audiences ranging from technical deep dives to high-level strategic updates
• Elevate observability and trust: connect with customers to understand their need for visibility. You will define features that move beyond opaque mitigation, instead providing transparent, granular attack insights that prove the value of our protection

What We're Looking For:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in product management or technical product leadership, ideally within the security, networking, or infrastructure spaces
• Network fluency: Deep expertise in the technical fundamentals of the internet (including HTTP, TCP/UDP, BGP, GRE, DNS). You understand the dynamics of internet traffic, how bottlenecks occur, and the mechanisms used to manage traffic at scale
• Collaborative leadership: a proven ability to lead without authority, fostering strong relationships with Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Revenue teams. You thrive when solving problems across organizational boundaries
• Communication and presence: you are a clear, confident communicator who can tailor your narrative in real-time. You are comfortable presenting complex technical concepts to executives and customers alike with clarity and conviction.
• Customer empathy: An enthusiastic focus on discovering the “why” that underlies market problems. You can translate complex technical capabilities into clear value

We’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:

• Experience launching or managing infrastructure products (DDoS, WAF, firewalls, network monitoring)
• A genuine passion for analyzing internet traffic patterns, dissecting attack vectors, or optimizing network performance

Work Hours: This position will require you to be available during core business hours.

This position is open to Hybrid And Remote Work Locations.

The preferred locations for this position are:

• San Francisco, CA
• New York, NY
• Denver, CO
• Remote within the US

Fastly currently embraces a largely hybrid model for most roles which allows employees flexibility to split their time between the office and home.

There is a strong preference for Hybrid near a local office.  However, we may be willing to consider remote candidates within the US.

This position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.

Salary:

The estimated salary range for this position is $181,220 to $217,464.

Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.

This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.
