About the team

Because when you're on a mission to power every TV in the world, you've got to be out there making waves. The focus of the Roku TV Engineering team is to improve the overall portability and scalability of RokuOS. This is accomplished by owning, maintaining and improving our PAL, Platform Abstraction Layer. In addition to owning the PAL layer, we also own SoC Engagements, including Project Aurora and Project Ubiquity.

About the role

Join our innovative team at Roku as a Software Engineer Intern, where your passion for technology and creativity drives our success. We offer a paid 12-week internship, based out of our Hsinchu office.

You will be able to choose one of the following start dates:

• 29th June 2025

What you'll be doing

• Working on the RokuOS to support it's portability and scalability globally
• Partnering with teams in both Taiwan, the US and EMEA to work crossfunctionally on problems
• Support the continued improvement of our PAL: Platform Abstraction Layer

We’re excited if you have

• Currently enrolled in a full-time, degree-seeking program and in the process of obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in computer science or a related field.
• Experience coding in C/C++
• Proficient with Linux and Embedded Systems, either via previous internships or projects
• Non-academic coding experience (i.e. hack-a-thons, code challenges, personal projects, GitHub, Open Source, volunteer coding experience, conference participation, previous internships etc.).
• Passion about software development, with a curiosity that drives you to stay on top of tech trends and explore new ideas.

Our Hybrid Work Approach

Roku fosters an inclusive and collaborative environment where teams work in the office Monday through Thursday. Fridays are flexible for remote work except for employees whose roles are required to be in the office five days a week or employees who are in offices with a five day in office policy.
