Role

We are looking for a seasoned Staff Software Development Engineer to join our Engineering department. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore, reporting to the Senior Manager, Software Engineering. You will join our Cloud Browser Isolation Product Team, contributing to the world’s largest cloud security platform. You'll bring your vision and passion to a team of experts who enable organizations worldwide to harness speed and agility through a cloud-first strategy.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

• Design, build, and maintain integrations with internal and external products to enhance Zscaler offerings beyond a single solution
• Implement scalable APIs and microservices in Go for seamless data exchange and real-time session handling
• Collaborate with architects and product owners to ensure cloud services align with company standards
• Develop solutions for traffic management, monitoring, and logging to ensure high reliability and efficient debugging
• Participate in on-call rotations to resolve production issues while continuously improving system reliability

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• 5+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years focused on developing backend cloud systems using Go (Golang)
• Proficiency in building APIs using HTTP, gRPC, or REST and managing secure endpoint communication
• Experience with containerized application development (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Proven track record of building backend systems with high performance and reliability expectations
• Solid understanding of networking concepts such as TCP, DNS, and SSL/TLS encryption

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Familiarity or willingness to contribute to NodeJS backend development
• Exposure to DevOps automation workflows and CI/CD pipelines
• Hands-on experience with distributed messaging systems like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar services
