Let's start with the role
At Kaizen, we operate in verticals that represent the connection with our customers and the way we create sustainable growth and seamless entertainment experiences. Within this ecosystem, our AI department sits at the core of our innovation strategy. We harness the power of traditional, generative and agentic AI to create immersive customer experiences and optimize business processes. Some of the AI-powered systems and products that have been deployed to production include a fraud mitigation engine, a bonus optimization engine, personalized content and UI sections, and conversational igaming assistants.
The Technology Manager works closely with the Head of AI and leads part of the AI technology function. This role is responsible for ensuring that delivery, performance, and quality standards are met from both a people and product perspective in a sustainable manner. The role will oversee the delivery and operational excellence of two or more cross-functional AI teams.
As a Technology Manager, your main responsibilities will be:
- Lead two to four cross-functional engineering teams (15–35 people), consisting of Data Scientists, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Engineers and Principal AI Engineers.
- Partner with the AI lead product manager to ensure high standards of AI product quality and maximization of business value created.
- Enable teams to deliver high-quality AI products in a timely manner, removing impediments and managing dependencies.
- Provide high-level architectural oversight to ensure system scalability, reliability, and security across the AI portfolio.
- Drive the creation and update of the AI tech roadmap, balancing innovation and customer value with engineering excellence and management of technical debt.
- Guide and develop team leaders to build high-performing, autonomous teams and a healthy leadership pipeline.
- Take ownership of team staffing by identifying capability gaps, prioritizing hiring needs, and actively participating in recruitment.
What you’ll bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience). A Masters or Phd is a plus.
- 3–5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Data, ML or AI Engineer with a proven track record of building AI products and systems.
- 5–7+ years of experience in a tech-leadership position, managing AI, Data and ML engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of the ML development lifecycle and how to optimize the trade-offs in each step.
- Experience working with cross-functional, autonomous teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance innovation and delivery.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including facilitation, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
