Alpha Inc. is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Estimator to identify, bid, and win profitable work that advances our mission to build Hawaii’s future. This role goes beyond numbers—it’s about translating opportunities into executed projects, strengthening client relationships, and helping fill our backlog with work that aligns with our capabilities and values.

You’ll partner closely with Operations, Business Development, and Executive Leadership to deliver winning proposals, shape pursuit strategies, and develop strong pricing narratives. From evaluating soil reports to preparing bid-day summaries, you’ll own every detail and decision that turns opportunity into impact.

What You Will Do

Strategic Estimating & Opportunity Pursuit

• Seek out new business opportunities and monitor government and industry sources for upcoming projects.
• Stay ahead of long-term prospects, helping Alpha proactively position for high-value work.
• Take the lead in developing and nurturing strong client relationships to secure future work.

Bid Development & Execution

• Thoroughly review and interpret bid documents including plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and project addenda.
• Conduct site visits and pre-bid assessments to evaluate access, staging, phasing, and other production constraints.
• Perform or oversee quantity takeoffs and estimate development, ensuring alignment with project realities.

Subcontractor & Supplier Coordination

• Identify, contact, and obtain multiple competitive quotes for each scope from subcontractors, vendors, and service providers.
• Ensure thorough scope coverage, minimize gaps, and evaluate pricing risk.
• Maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors and vendors to support competitive, high-quality proposals.

Estimate Ownership

• Determine scope, cost, production rates, and potential risk factors.
• Build detailed cost estimates, project schedules, and bid narratives.
• Develop executive-level summaries and internal review documents for bid day.

Internal Coordination & Hand-Offs

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Field Leadership, and the Executive Team.
• Lead thorough handoff meetings for awarded projects to ensure clarity and execution alignment.
• Maintain historical data for future bid improvement and benchmarking

What You Bring

• 3–5+ years of experience in civil construction estimating or equivalent field roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field—or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction drawings, methods, scopes, and sequencing.
• Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Bluebeam, HCSS, or equivalent) and Excel.
• Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage tight deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a business development mindset.
