Your Mission

As Compliance Officer, you will play a central role in upholding and enforcing a high-standard regulatory compliance culture across the organisation. You will ensure that the company adheres to all its obligations under the German and EU laws and regulations, including KWG, MaRisk, MiCAR, and other relevant supervisory requirements.. This includes establishing a strong second line of defence, acting independently from operational functions and being the key point of contact for regulatory compliance and governance.

Your position is critical in ensuring that internal practices, policies and controls not only meet but exceed expectations, supporting Bitpanda’s sustainable growth and reputation as a trusted operator in the crypto-asset and financial services space.

What you’ll do

• Compliance Framework & Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain a robust compliance monitoring programme in line with BaFin Rulebooks and regulatory expectations.
• Regulatory & Governance Management: Serve as the primary BaFin contact, ensuring accurate submissions, timely reporting, and up-to-date knowledge of all relevant laws and guidance.
• Monitoring, Breach & Risk Management: Identify and escalate breaches, oversee corrective actions, and manage ongoing compliance risk assessments.
• Policy, Reporting & Training: Draft and maintain compliance policies, deliver Board reports on compliance risks, and lead training to embed regulatory awareness across teams.
• Ethics & Culture: Promote integrity, transparency, and accountability, fostering a strong culture of ethical compliance throughout the organisation.

Who you are

• Qualified & Experienced: Degree in Law, Finance, Business, or related field, with proven experience in compliance within financial services, fintech, or crypto sectors.
• Regulatory Expert: Deep understanding of BaFin Rulebooks, (EU) regulations, and global compliance standards.
• Independent & Decisive: Exercises sound judgement, operates autonomously, and provides trusted counsel to senior leadership.
• Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Strong problem-solving, analytical, and documentation skills with a high level of accuracy.
• Clear Communicator: Excellent verbal and written communication, able to translate complex regulatory requirements and uphold confidentiality and integrity.
