Director of People Operations & Total Rewards
The Director of People Operations & Total Rewards is responsible for building and automating the people infrastructure that allows our organization to grow and perform at its best. This role strengthens core HR operations, oversees compensation and benefits, and ensures our systems, policies, and practices are effective, compliant, and mission-aligned.
Day to day, you will:
- Drive automation and optimization of People and Culture workflows
- Lead and continuously improve compensation, benefits, payroll, leave, and accommodation programs that are equitable, competitive, and aligned with organizational priorities and budget
- Develop and present people and rewards analytics to inform strategic decision-making and organizational planning

- Be both strategic and hands-on — comfortable designing scalable frameworks and staying close to operational details

College Track is a comprehensive college completion program that equips students from underserved communities to be the first in their families to earn a bachelor’s degree. We do this through a holistic, asset-based program that supports scholars over 10 years — from high school through college and into early careers.

Compensation: This position is full-time exempt. The full compensation range, by region, is listed below with the exact compensation depending on experience.
Full Ranges
- Oakland: $115,000- $165,000
As someone new to the role, you can expect an offer in the 2nd quartile to ensure internal equity while leaving room for salary growth during your time in the position.
Target Ranges
- Oakland: $127,500-$139,999
Benefits: As a member of our College Track nation, you would be provided access to extensive benefits which include, but are not limited to:
- Health Care: Staff and their dependents can enroll in our comprehensive, competitive, and affordable health care options and the majority of the costs are covered by College Track.
- Work-Life Balance: Time off is essential to success.
+ HOLIDAYS: 13 per year
+ VACATION DAYS: 15 in your first year of employment with accrual increasing alongside length of service
+ SICK DAYS: Up to 12 accrued per year
+ ORG WIDE BREAKS: 3 weeks of paid breaks when College Track closes for a 1-week summer and 2-week winter break
- Financial Security: Immediately, you can enroll in our 401(k) plan with a match of up to 4%. Additionally, life insurance that is 1x your salary is paid for by College Track with the option to purchase additional coverage
