About the Role:

You will be part of a highly collaborative product team working at the core of our manufacturing facility transforming digital models into physical elements at scale. 

Product Teams at GROPYUS own what they build, including underlying infrastructure, build pipelines, automated testing, release and rollout management, monitoring, and support. You will be trusted to solve problems efficiently and effectively building on top of a solid architecture and operational foundation and will be encouraged to seek out under-attended topics and assume responsibility for them both within your product area as well as across product areas. 

As a Lead Engineer, you will lead two teams operating cloud software in our Product Delivery area. Your teams will be responsible for building solid integrations and abstractions for external systems like e.g. ERP systems. Furthermore, your team will be responsible for solving overarching planning and orchestrations topics. You will work closely with the other Lead & Staff Engineers, the Head of Engineering as well as Product Managers in the area to define and execute a delivery roadmap and operate the software with your team. You will be the lead for eventually 8 engineers and be responsible for their professional and career development. 

With your experience in integrating systems, operating software systems, and balancing operational and feature development work you will help your team to be successful and deliver according to the company's targets.

What you'll be doing:

As a Lead Engineer (f/m/d) on the Product Delivery team, you will be responsible for: 

• Leading a software development team both disciplinary as well as from delivery roadmap

• Working in a hybrid infrastructure environment (cloud and on-prem), managing complex software deployments at scale

• Strengthening the Operational mindset in Product Delivery with focus on monitoring, alerting and controlled feature rollout

• Acting as a sparring partner for Product Managers and Stakeholders in the area to manage requirements and priorities

• Being responsible for delivering features and improvements according to the roadmap and in alignment with Product Management
• Supporting your directs in professional and career development based on their strengths and weaknesses in alignment with the team’s and company’s needs

What you bring:

• You are an experienced software engineer leader with a strong background in software operations

• You possess practical experience in all key areas of modern software development, including infrastructure, observability, testing, deployment pipelines incl. quality assurance, and scaling

• You’ve operated and supported large-scale software systems in cloud and non-cloud environments (on-premise)
• You’ve worked in companies with strong operational cultures, ideally in logistics or manufacturing – understanding the commercial impact of system downtime
• Having experience in integrating external systems like ERP or logistics systems is a plus
• You have experience leading and developing engineers at various levels

• You are proficient with most of the following technologies:

+ Kotlin / SpringBoot

+ Kubernetes

+ Linux

+ PostgreSQL

+ BPMN / Optimization is a plus

+ Python / Bash is a plus

You bring Cloud Operations experience - Azure is a bonus 

• You’re familiar with monitoring and alerting practices for production systems

• Experience with defining and working with SLAs/SLOs is a bonus

• Frequent travel within Germany for in-person team events as well visiting our manufacturing location (every 6 weeks)
