Who are we?
Avantium is an innovation‑driven company focused on developing and commercializing breakthrough technologies for the production of FDCA and PEF from renewable plant-based feedstocks. FDCA (furandicarboxylic acid) is the key building block for PEF (polyethylene furanoate), a next‑generation, fully plant‑based and sustainable plastic material. PEF offers excellent performance benefits compared to conventional plastics and can be used in packaging, textiles, films and a wide range of everyday applications. Avantium’s strategic priority is to bring FDCA and PEF to market at scale through commercial partnerships and a global licensing strategy. The company is currently starting up its first‑of‑a‑kind commercial FDCA Flagship Plant, which will enable the global launch of PEF and demonstrate the commercial readiness of the technology. It is an exciting time to join Avantium, as we are currently starting up our first-of-a-kind commercial plant to produce PEF, unlocking the high potential of this novel, highly innovative plastic material PEF. To commercially launch PEF globally, Avantium has developed a brand for PEF: releaf® (an EU trademark).
Avantium obtained a listing on Euronext Amsterdam and Euronext Brussels in March 2017, its shares (AVTX) are included in the AScX index. The role
To realize a fossil-free world Avantium’s high tech sustainable solutions need to speak the language of our key stakeholders, such as brand owners, their consumers and our licensees. Avantium is looking for a Manager Business and Product Marketing, responsible for the business and product marketing strategy of FDCA and releaf®. The Marketing & Branding Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including the communications team and our business development teams.
Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing the business and product marketing strategy of FDCA and releaf® (PEF), ensuring alignment with business goals and market trends
- Collaborate with the Business development and licensing teams to develop and implement the business communication strategy
- Manage relationships with external marketing agencies, and partners to enhance marketing efforts
- Plan and execute releaf® application launches, coordinating with external partners and cross-functional teams to ensure successful market entry
- Manage Company participation at relevant conference and trade shows
- Manage the marketing budget, allocate efficiently, and measure the impact
- Be senior marketing counterpart at potential clients and licensee

You are a strategic thinker with strong execution skills, providing functional leadership to the marketing field at Avantium, with the following strengths:
- Deep knowledge of B2B and B2C marketing and communication
- Expertise in Marketing Communications, Market Research, Branding, Sponsoring and Trade Shows
- Proven experience in Campaign Development
- Excellent negotiation skills
- A creative mindset with a sharp eye for detail, excelling at developing compelling marketing strategies and campaigns
- Strong ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and effectively champion a position within multiple competing priorities
- Able to grasp complex aspects of Avantium’s products and technologies and translate technical information for multiple audiences
- Skilled in performing quantitative tasks with speed and accuracy, including data collection and management
- Strong understanding of marketing principles and consumer behaviour
- A true team player and self-starter, who delivers results together with the team
Minimum Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration or a relevant academic field; a master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (10 years) in product marketing, marketing communications, or a related role
- Excellent communication, presentation, and writing Skills
- Fluent mastery of English and preferably Dutch, in writing and speaking
- Lives in The Netherlands, preferably in Amsterdam or its surroundings
- A good sense of humour.
The selection process consists of three steps: selection process based on the candidates’ resume and motivation letter, followed by job interviews, and finally a marketing case that candidates will be asked to prepare and present.
