OVERVIEW

Join ALO’s Artificial Intelligence and Data Science team to explore the frontiers of applied AI in wellness, fashion, and retail. You’ll build intelligent systems that power personalization, content generation, computer vision, and decision automation.

We’re looking for a hands-on AI Engineer who loves to build. You’ll design and deploy bespoke, high-impact AI solutions that stretch across product design, marketing, supply chain, customer experience, and engineering. Some projects will be fast-turnaround proofs of concept; others will grow into scalable internal platforms. You’ll balance the art of creative experimentation with the discipline of technical rigor—knowing when to build from scratch and when to leverage what already exists.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Build bespoke AI solutions to accelerate business outcomes—anything from product image generation to conversational assistants or process automation.
• Prototype rapidly using APIs, open models, and cloud-native services to validate ideas and demonstrate value.
• Design for scale—transition ad hoc experiments into maintainable, production-grade systems or reusable components.
• Evaluate external AI platforms and tools for integration potential, cost, and business fit.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, design, supply chain, retail operations, and engineering teams to translate real problems into AI-enabled solutions.
• Implement responsible AI practices that ensure transparency, fairness, and explainability across applications.
• Mentor and coach peers in practical AI adoption and experimentation.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 10+ years of experience in a data or software engineering field.
• MS or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or Data Science.
• Equal parts builder, hacker, and architect—you can ship a working demo in a day but think in systems that can scale for years.
• Comfortable working without a map—you thrive in ambiguity and see constraints as creative opportunities.
• Skilled in Python, SQL, and cloud AI platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and fluent in modern AI frameworks (LangChain, Hugging Face, OpenAI, etc.).
• Strong grasp of ML fundamentals (classification, NLP, computer vision, embeddings) and practical data engineering.
• Experience in integrating AI into business workflows—e.g., automating content generation, demand forecasting, or intelligent search.
• Naturally curious about the intersection of human creativity and artificial intelligence, and driven by impact, not novelty.
• Experience in implementing / developing model evaluation frameworks.

The base salary range for this position is $180,000-$235,000 per year which represents the current range for the base salary for this exempt position. Please note that actual salaries will vary based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. As such, on occasion and when applicable, there is the possibility that the final, agreed-upon base salary may be outside of the upper end of the range. Please also note the range listed is just one component of the company’s total rewards package for exempt employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, long term incentives, a PTO policy, and many other progressive benefits.
