Role

We are looking for a Networking and System Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. This is a hybrid role based in Bangalore reporting to the Director, Software Engineering. We built the Zscaler architecture from the ground up as a platform that could extend to new features and services, and you will join our team to make your mark on the planning and product roadmap at the forefront of the world’s cloud security leader.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

• Design and optimize system infrastructure for high-performance networking and applications
• Collaborate with teams to resolve system issues and improve performance
• Apply expertise in system architecture, scalability, and performance optimization
• Leverage knowledge of Linux kernel, disk partitioning, file systems, and networking features
• Develop specification documents, conduct unit tests, and automate processes

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• 8+ years of system engineering experience, specializing in designing and optimizing infrastructure for high-performance applications and networks
• Expertise in Linux internals, networking features, data paths (kernel/user space), and file systems
• Skilled in C programming, Linux kernel tools (Git, Make), and agile methodologies
• Familiar with NFV, SDN, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Effective communicator and collaborator, skilled in working with cross-functional teams
• Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of efficiently debugging complex issues
• Understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and DevOps tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet)
