The Role: As part of our operational evolution we are looking for our first ever Senior Product Designer to be fully dedicated to building for our Research customers. You will take a ‘founder mindset’ to our heritage business, driving design and design-thinking for a broad-remit product team focused on academic and business research customers, many of them self-serving, but increasingly more of them institutional or enterprise users.

Responsibilities: You will be embedded in a team alongside engineers, product managers, and data scientists as well as very close operational and customer-facing colleagues. You’ll build and advocate for functional, delightful, and disruptive customer journeys that pack a lot of value. You’ll work experimentally and iteratively. You’ll conduct user research independently with the help of our consulting user researchers. You’ll be the person accountable for the product’s customer experience and satisfaction in your domain.

What you'll be doing

• Designing meaningful products: Identify and solve a wide range of problems through thoughtful discovery, definition and design.
• Think strategically: Look beyond the immediate task to connect the dots, shaping the product at a high level, spotting missing pieces across the experience and ensuring design decisions align with the bigger picture.
• Shaping outcomes that matter: Help define, monitor and improve product experience experience for Prolific users
• Elevating design at scale: Contribute to our design system and evolve our design processes to enable designing faster, more consistent and enjoyable experiences.
• Driving a culture of experimentation: Explore and outline a range of solutions to solve a customer and business problem. Champion data informed design and rapid prototyping, iterating quickly to deliver value.

How you’ll do it

• Understand people deeply: Build a deep understanding of the motivations and behaviours of data collectors, account administrators, integrating developers, and participants, through workshops, research and feedback loops.
• Design journeys with impact: Create flows, user journeys and mental models that help our users to achieve their goals.
• Bring ideas to life: Produce service maps, wireframes and prototypes that inspire clarity and collaboration.
• Validate and refine: Test and evaluate prototypes and experiments for usability, value and feasibility to ensure we solve the right problems the right way.
• Collaborate across disciplines: Work closely with the product and engineering team to co-create design solutions and roll-out strategies.
• Inspire and influence: Tell the story of your design decisions with clarity and confidence, articulating the reasoning behind them across the whole Prolific team, helping elevate the role of design throughout Prolific and inspire others with your vision.

What you'll bring

You're comfortable with asynchronous and synchronous working that is fast-paced and constantly changing. You are a deep systems thinker who is curious about people's behaviour and passionate about how great design can improve user productivity and enjoyment. You understand product design principles and have long practical experience using them.

• Design tools, such as Figma.
• Experience with information architecture and mapping complex systems and business processes.
• Experience of interface design, and a deep understanding of good visual and interactive design in dynamic contexts.
• Comfort with product analytics and A/B or multivariate testing
• Experience working in fast-paced environments.

Even better if you have

• Knowledge of B2B and Enterprise customer needs and how to delight them.
• Knowledge of the AI tooling landscape.
• Knowledge of developer experience, APIs, and common developer tools.
• Proven success in a scale-up environment.
• Inclusive design and accessibility (we’re at AA standard).
