Title of role: Software Engineer (Back-end)

Location: Dublin, Ireland; Hybrid (2 days in the office required)  Approved Salary Range: €75,000 -  €85,000

About the Role:

This role is based in our Dublin office and operates under a hybrid working model. Engineers are expected to attend the office regularly to support collaboration, learning, and day-to-day delivery. During the initial probation period, there is an expectation of increased in-office presence to support onboarding, knowledge sharing, and team integration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and Develop: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems and services.
• Code Quality: Ensure code quality through robust testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
• Database Management: Design and manage databases, ensuring data integrity and efficient data access.
• API Development: Create and maintain APIs for internal and external use.
• Collaboration: Work closely with front-end developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive, high-quality solutions.
• Security: Implement and maintain security best practices to protect data and applications.
• Documentation: Produce clear and concise documentation for developed features and systems.
• Incident Management: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact on users.
• Performance Optimization: Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability.
• Agile Participation: Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to the continuous improvement of the development process.
• Ownership & Independent Delivery: Take ownership of assigned features, delivering work independently from design through implementation and release, while seeking feedback and escalating risks early to ensure quality and alignment.

Experience and Background Needed:

• 4+ years of experience in backend development.
• Strong proficiency in backend technologies, Python preferred.
• Extensive experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Proven experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs and GraphQL.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines
• Experience with cloud platforms and Serverless architectures, AWS preferred
• Hands-on experience implementing event-driven services using an event streaming platform (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis), including producers and consumers.
• Ability to integrate event streams into backend systems for near real-time processing and service decoupling.
• Understanding of security principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Desirable:

+ Django framework experience

+ End to end full stack development experience
