WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will own the architecture behind how customers discover, order, receive and pay for ICEYE's SAR imagery and monitoring insights.. You will decide how several existing backend systems become one platform, and you will see that migration through to production.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

\* Build the platform at the heart of ICEYE's data business: it's how customers buy and receive our imagery and insights, and it will drive the Data business's revenue for years to come.

\* Own the technical architecture and migration plan for bringing several existing backend systems together into one unified platform behind ICEYE's monitoring intelligence products.

\* Make the key architecture and data-model decisions and hands-on drive them through execution across multiple engineering teams.

\* Deliver the platform's first production milestone together with the team within the first quarter of 2027. Then lead the migration of the remaining live products onto it without disrupting customers.

\* Set the technical standards other engineers build against as the platform consolidation continues.

\* Bring a point of view on where AI-assisted engineering practices genuinely help the team, and help others apply them.

\* Partner directly with product and engineering leadership to keep the migration aligned as priorities evolve.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

\* Backend production engineering experience in Go, or deep enough backend expertise in a similar language to ramp quickly.

\* Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and event-driven, message-based architectures.

\* Production experience with a major cloud provider (AWS preferred).

\* Practical experience with observability tooling such as LGTM stack, Datadog and OpenTelemetry.

\* A track record of technically leading an architecture renewal, platform consolidation, or large-scale migration end to end, not just contributing to one.

\* Proven ability to bring multiple engineering teams and stakeholders to a shared technical direction.

\* Geospatial or space industry experience is a strong plus that will help you have an impact quickly. If you don't have it, apply anyway: most of our engineers learned the domain here.
