While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.

We’re looking for Staff Software Engineers to balance the role of an individual contributor while also anchoring new projects, leading technical direction and mentoring other engineers on the team. Our engineering team leverages a diverse tech stack and our focus is finding smart engineers who’ve worked on complex projects and we have all the trust you’d be able to pick up whatever tech necessary in the stack.

The Trust & Loyalty org contains a portfolio of products. Our flagship offering is CB1 – Coinbase’s subscription offering and we’re creating the default crypto membership for all members of the crypto community. Currently, CB1 offers benefits such as free trading, boosted staking rates, and more. The CB1 Growth team is responsible for driving the acquisition and activation of Coinbase One subscribers. Our focus is on rapid experimentation and funnel optimization to increase sign-ups and user engagement, as well extending the reach and benefits of Coinbase One through international growth, on-chain partnerships, and strategic collaborations.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Architect, design and implement foundational solutions for subscription product
• Provide technical structure to teams and work closely with management and stakeholders to define strategic roadmaps
• Manage individual projects priorities, deadlines and deliverables with your technical expertise
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards
• Write high quality, well tested code to meet the needs of your customers
• Be responsible for product and operational health

What we look for in you:

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering
• You’ve experienced architecting and developing solutions to ambiguous problems with significant impact
• Experience managing technical roadmap and driving organizational engineering excellence
• Experience building or scaling systems related to subscription/membership/promotion products, or growth levers.
• Experience with growth metrics (e.g. conversion, activation, retention, engagement) and A/B testing frameworks
• Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human-in-the-loop practices to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.

Nice to haves:

• You’ve built financial, high reliability or security systems
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with onchain activity such as interacting with Ethereum addresses, using ENS, and engaging with dApps or blockchain-based services.
