About the Role

The Director of Nursing will play a critical leadership role in shaping and advancing Bond Vet’s nursing strategy. Working closely with the Chief Veterinary Officer and regional leadership teams, this leader will help ensure our nurses have the development resources, clarity, and operational systems needed to deliver outstanding patient care at scale.
As a senior clinical leader, this role bridges clinical excellence, workforce strategy, and operational execution. This leader will also provide direct management to members of the Medical Operations team and strategic oversight and mentorship to our Area Lead Nurses (regional nurse trainers).
While this role is primarily strategic and operational, maintaining clinical credibility is essential. From time to time, the Director of Nursing will be asked to step into clinical shifts or consult (most often to support training or complex cases) in order to ensure continued connection to the realities of our clinic teams and the care we provide every day.
This role reports to the Chief Veterinary Officer and represents an important step in the leadership pathway toward Chief Nursing Officer at Bond Vet.
Your Priorities
- Leadership presence - Be a visible, approachable leader who supports and empowers our medical teams.
- Medical Quality - Set and maintain the highest standards of clinical care across all our practices. Provide oversight for medical quality programs and initiatives.
- Program Development and Execution - Develop innovative programs to enhance patient care and operational efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Clinical Innovation & Continuous Improvement – advancing nursing practice, training, and workflows to elevate patient care and team confidence through data-driven quality improvement.
- Nursing Workforce Strategy – Guide recruiting strategy, compensation decisions, and workforce planning for nursing teams in partnership with Talent Acquisition and regional leadership.
Core Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Organizational Influence
- Serve as a senior clinical leader capable of representing nursing strategy and organizational priorities to a wide range of audiences including clinic teams, regional leadership, executive leadership, and the Board.
- Translate company strategy into clear, actionable direction for nursing teams and leaders.
Nursing Clinical Excellence
- Maintain strong clinical credibility and expertise in general practice, urgent care, and anesthesia support, stepping into clinical shifts when needed to support critical operational needs (e.g., rescue coverage, training support, complex cases).
- Partner with Medical Quality and clinical leaders to ensure nursing standards support high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care.
Nursing Workforce Strategy & Systems
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to shape recruiting strategy for nurses, ensuring hiring approaches reflect evolving labor market conditions and organizational needs.
- Provide expertise on nursing labor markets, candidate evaluation, and compensation expectations, helping inform hiring decisions and offer structures for key roles.
- Support hiring decisions for nurse roles and advise on offers based on skills, experience, and market competitiveness.
- Design and evolve scalable systems and frameworks for nursing compensation, leveling, incentives, and recognition, partnering with executive, operations, and people teams to ensure structures support recruitment, retention, internal equity, and career development.
Medical Operations Leadership
- Directly manage nursing members of the Medical Operations team, providing leadership, coaching, and accountability for project execution.
- Partner with the CVO to identify strategic initiatives and operational priorities across clinical quality, nursing capability, and clinic operations. Translate strategic priorities into structured projects with clear goals, timelines, and outcomes ensuring alignment of medical quality, operational priorities, and team experience.
Regional Nurse Trainer Leadership
- Provide strategic leadership and mentorship to Regional Nurse Trainers. Support the ongoing engagement, professional development, and effectiveness of the training team.
- Ensure trainers receive appropriate support, resources, and direction to deliver high-impact training across clinics.
- Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among trainers, including coordinating projects, learning resources, and offsite development opportunities.

You Have:
- Active LVT/RVT license in good standing (required)
- 10+ years of clinical veterinary nursing experience
- Demonstrated strength in anesthesia and procedural support
- Experience managing, training, or mentoring other technicians and leaders or educators
- Ability to build trust and engagement across diverse teams
- Passion for developing people and improving systems
- Experience leading complex operational initiatives or cross-functional projects
- Familiarity with clinical workforce strategy, recruiting, and compensation considerations
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills in complex organizational environments
- Ability to travel up to 50%
Compensation Range: $130,000 - $175,000 per year
