Founded more than 75 years ago in Fremont, California, IEM grew alongside Silicon Valley and today operates over 1.7 million square feet of manufacturing capacity. With $1B+ in annual sales and 10,000+ commissioned projects across technology, data centers, commercial, energy, utilities, healthcare, industrial, and infrastructure markets, IEM continues to deliver exceptional product quality, dependable service, and the flexibility to meet complex technical requirements at scale.
IEM is currently seeking an Operations Manager - Integrated Products for our Surrey, B.C location. The Operations Manager – Integrated Products is a people-centered, execution-driven leader accountable for the end-to-end performance of an assigned value stream. This role requires a leader who brings clarity to complexity, leads with empathy and high emotional intelligence, and motivates teams through trust, structure, and disciplined execution. The successful candidate is not only analytically strong, but deeply hands-on—capable of filtering noise into clear priorities and experienced in real-world Lean manufacturing execution. The Operations Manager owns safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity outcomes and works cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Materials, Maintenance, and Continuous Improvement to deliver sustainable operational performance.
Please note: This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey offices and does not offer remote work. This role will report into the Director of Operations - Integrated Products.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations across the value stream, ensuring work is performed safely, to standard, and in line with production plans
- Own and actively manage value-stream KPIs including OTD, PPA, DPU, safety (TRIR/incidents), LHPU, and material efficiency (e.g., Copper Scrap %)
- Conduct daily Gemba walks to observe work, verify standards, engage employees, and identify issues early
- Establish, support, and actively use Hour-by-Hour Boards and Daily Management systems to track performance, surface abnormalities, and drive immediate action
- Own and lead the Daily Management System, including tiered huddles, escalation, and follow-up to ensure issues are resolved at the right level and do not recur
- Lead daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms that translate performance gaps into clear ownership and disciplined follow-through
- Proactively plan and balance labor, skills, and resources to meet demand while maintaining flow and efficiency
- Anticipate operational risks and constraints by identifying leading indicators, planning contingencies, and implementing containment actions before issues impact flow or stop the line
- Translate strategic objectives into clear, executable priorities for supervisors and frontline teams, ensuring focus on the critical few versus competing demands
- Partner closely with Production Planning and Materials to align demand, capacity, and material availability
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline teams, setting clear expectations and ensuring consistent accountability
- Take ownership of training, cross-training, and skills development to ensure employees are capable, confident, and set up for success
- Actively develop talent within the team through coaching, feedback, and structured development plans, bringing out the best in people
- Build bench strength by developing supervisors and high-potential employees through deliberate capability building and succession planning
- Act as a change leader by driving adoption of new processes, standards, and ways of working, addressing resistance, and ensuring changes are sustained on the shop floor
- Lead structured problem solving using root-cause analysis, A3 thinking, Pareto analysis, and process mapping to prevent repeat issues
- Champion hands-on Lean manufacturing execution, including:
- Single-piece flow and cellular manufacturing
- Standard work creation, sustainment, and continuous improvement
- Takt time, line balancing, and flow optimization
- Visual management, 5S, and Kaizen
- Lead Lean as a daily operating system by modeling leader standard work and embedding continuous improvement into everyday execution
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and CI teams to resolve design, process, and equipment issues impacting production
- Maintain full ownership of the value stream, ensuring process changes and improvements are executed and deliver intended results
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements while promoting a culture of zero injuries and right-first-time quality
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a technical discipline (Electrical preferred)
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing or operations environments
- Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or managerial role (Operations Manager, Production Manager, Production Supervisor, Engineering leadership, or equivalent)
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience implementing Lean manufacturing in real production settings
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong sense of ownership
- Proven experience leading people, managing daily execution, and improving operational performance
- Experience working in cross-functional, high-mix or integrated manufacturing environments
- Demonstrated experience leading operational change initiatives and driving successful adoption in a manufacturing setting
- Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast-paced environment.
