Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Full-time/Company: Bluesky

Bluesky’s mission is to transition the social web from platforms to protocols. They’re building a federated social network where users have more power.

Applicants must have working-hours overlap with Pacific Time (PST).

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement ML models for personalized recommendations, search, spam detection, and topic labeling
• Work with a large open dataset, the Bluesky social graph, and its content
• Run ML tests and experiments; document findings for future iterations
• Ensure algorithms deliver accurate user recommendations and optimized experiences
• Train, retrain, and monitor models to maintain effectiveness
• Operate and run ML systems at scale in production

Requirements:

• 3+ years in machine learning or data science with focus on recommendations and search
• Proficiency in Python and experience with PyTorch
• Willingness and ability to run rapid experiments
• Familiarity with data structures, data modeling, and software architecture
• Experience with high-scale technologies

Nice to have:

• Experience in recommendation systems, user behavior modeling, and social graph analysis
• Familiarity with Golang (ML code interfaces with it heavily)
• Experience with Ray, BigQuery, and Postgres
• Ability to extend and optimize existing ML libraries and frameworks
• Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
