About the role
As the Director, Technical Platforms and Operations, you’ll act as a true partner to the EVP of Engineering, operating as a hands-on technical leader who drives execution across a complex and evolving ecosystem spanning infrastructure, internal systems, logistics, and emerging technologies. To succeed, you must have a “Builder” mindset with passion and aptitude for learning new tech, and bring a high sense of ownership, resourcefulness, and be motivated by solving complex challenges.
You will deliver across a range of technical and operational initiatives, from problem definition through implementation and ongoing optimization. This includes leading complex integrations across internal and external platforms, advancing warehouse and logistics capabilities, and driving automation. You will partner closely with internal teams and external vendors to resolve issues and ensure strong outcomes.
This role is built for someone who figures things out. Someone who thrives in complexity and is energized by solving hard, technical problems. Someone not defined by a specific tech stack; rather, someone adaptable, resourceful, and able to quickly learn new tools and apply them to real-world challenges. This role is for someone with a strong sense of ownership, curiosity, and bias for action, who takes pride in making systems work better, faster, and more efficiently, whether that’s improving core systems, connecting workflows, or introducing automation and AI-driven solutions.
What you’ll do
- Own end-to-end delivery of complex technical initiatives, including system builds, integrations, and continuous optimization
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across systems and physical operations, including evaluating robotics where relevant
- Evaluate, introduce, and scale technologies across AI, infrastructure, and operational systems to improve efficiency and reduce cost
- Support oversight of outsourced external partners and ensure alignment with company standards
- Partner with internal teams and external vendors to drive execution, ensure accountability, and deliver high-quality outcomes
- Strengthen system performance and reliability in partnership with DevOps, and step-in across infrastructure, hardware, and telecom as needed to troubleshoot and unblock work
- Build scalable processes and operating structures, and hire and develop a high-performing, focused technical team over time
What You’ll Bring
- 10+ Years of Experience across multiple technical domains including infrastructure, DevOps, security, ERP, applications, or logistics systems, with hands on involvement, and a track record of improving efficiency and strengthening system performance
- Experience with orchestration tools, system observability/logging, and end-to-end debugging across infrastructure, application, and operational workflows.
- Demonstrated capabilities in most if not all of the following: AWS (VPC, IAM, EC2, S3, CloudWatch), API (REST/JSON), WMS, OMS, ERP integrations, SQL, ETL/data flows, Webhooks, Event-Driven Architecture, CI/CD, Kubernetes (K8s), Networking (DNS, TCP/IP, VPN), and IAM/MFA/SSO systems.
- Working knowledge of AI, automation, or similar technologies, with the ability to apply them hands on to solve operational problems
- Strong systems thinker who can connect technology and operations, operate both strategically and in the details, and work effectively with engineering and technical teams
