Why Box needs you:

Box is looking for visionary technical leaders for our engineering teams in Warsaw, who will lead, inspire, and mentor engineers, while bridging communication between the US and Poland engineering hubs, and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. The engineering manager role at Box involves spearheading significant technology initiatives, overseeing the entire lifecycle of projects across multiple architectural layers. Your knowledge can be vital for improving Box product and solving exciting challenges related to Cloud Content Management.

We are currently looking for leaders for the following teams:

Our Launchpad Engineering Team powers our core product experience pillars: design system, accessibility (a11y), internationalization (i18n), and in‑app guidance. This team drives a cohesive component library and tooling that accelerates product teams, improves UI consistency, and reduces maintenance costs across our frontend applications.

The Mobile Foundations engineering team enables Box's frontend engineers to deliver essential features for our iOS and Android apps used by millions. Our native mobile apps are built using Swift for iOS and Kotlin for Android, and we've added React-Native for cross-platform development - the Foundations team is responsible for ensuring a best-in-class developer experience with these platforms from design to code to production. As the manager of this team, you'll partner with stakeholders to set the roadmap, prioritize tasks, and lead your team to achieve its goals, delighting customers & maximizing impact!

Box Apps Consumer Experience is a no-code application builder which enables our customers to develop content-centric line of business applications. These Apps today are built from a palette of metadata-powered content views, workflow automation tools, and the core Box functionality for secure content collaboration. The Consumer Experience team focuses on the aspects of Box Apps which have the broadest audience: the users of the Apps that our customers build. The first version of Box Apps was just released in early 2025, and we have an exciting roadmap of features to deliver which will make Box Apps even more of a focal point of Box’s Intelligent Content Management strategy.

Box Extract team operates at the application layer of the Metadata Extraction domain and is responsible for turning Box’s AI extraction capabilities into a scalable, customer-facing product. The team builds the backend services and orchestration layer that manage document processing workflows, invoke OCR and AI models, and apply extracted metadata back into the Box platform. They ensure reliable, large-scale processing of enterprise documents while also contributing to the user experience within Box Automate, where customers can configure Extract Agents, define extraction rules, and monitor results. Through this product, organizations can transform unstructured documents such as contracts, invoices, and forms into structured, usable data.

Your expertise is essential to our journey in shaping tomorrow's content management landscape!

Who you are:

• Ideally, you have over 2 years of experience as a software engineering manager, leading teams responsible for high-scale production services.
• You possess at least 5 years of professional software development experience, contributing to the development of full-stack web applications and/or distributed systems.
• You excel at aligning and executing new technical ideas, demonstrating an understanding of best practices.
• Proven experience in driving effective execution with agile processes in a dynamic environment.
• A people-oriented leader, capable of modelling and fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
• Exceptional at communicating, passionate about technology and committed to raising the bar.
• Experience working with distributed teams across different time zones is advantageous.
• Proficient in English.

Bonus Points:

• Hands-on experience designing and building cloud-native architecture for AWS, GCP, or similar.
• Passion for open source and staying abreast of community developments.

Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of experienced engineers in Poland.
• Define the team's roadmap, execution plans, and take ownership of project delivery.
• Develop team members through 1:1s, career planning, coaching discussions, and hiring.
• Uphold values by building a collaborative, inclusive team focused on customer impact.
• Cultivate a culture of excellence through emphasis on execution, quality, and scale.
• Organize stand-ups, sprint planning, technical discussions, and manage sprint task statuses.
• Collaborate with product teams to scope new features, provide project estimates, and inform quarterly commitments.
• Work with cross-functional partners and stakeholders to ensure the team delivers significant business impact.
• Manage and coordinate the team’s on-call rotation to ensure timely and effective incident response, actively participate in escalated on-call incidents to provide leadership and support, and drive improvements by addressing recurring issues to minimize disruptions.
• Represent Box internally and externally.
