The Role:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Engineering Planning, the Summer Intern will work in a team focused on evaluating capital project requests and optimizing operational processes. The intern will gain exposure to feasibility analyses, engineering standards development, and process modeling to support strategic decision-making.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

• + Lead a small engineering Front End Planning project, including

+ Stakeholder alignment and scope development

+ Equipment list, utility analysis, and layout development

+ Feasibility and operational analyses

+ Schedule and cost development

+ Presentation to project and business stakeholders, providing assessment findings and recommendations

• Additional opportunities

+ Investigate assigned business and manufacturing operations challenges; collect and interpret operational data in preparation for simulation

+ Assist in building a comprehensive library of engineering specifications and standards

+ Develop standardized CapEx project execution templates in Asana PMO software

Requirements:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s in engineering with preference for Chemical Engineering
• Skills:

+ Familiar with industrial piping systems and typical biotech production and utility unit operations

+ Exposure to process analysis, operational data collection, or related problem-solving activities

+ Knowledge of discrete event process modeling is a bonus but not required

+ Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

+ Strong curiosity and a desire to learn

+ Determined and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently

+ Comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance when needed

+ Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills

+ Effective verbal and written communication abilities

The budgeted range for this position is $25.00 per hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected hourly range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
