WHY CRITICAL HARMS?

As an Engineering Manager on Critical Harms, you’ll lead an engineering team to identify and address some of the highest-risk and most critical problems we face, including rare events with sparse data such as predatory behavior, child endangerment, extremism, fraud. Safety and Civility is Roblox's #1 priority, and our mission is to protect our community.

You Will:

• Shape and grow a high-performing engineering team. Support engineers, ranging from junior to principal, in their development.
• Foster a team culture of collaboration, innovation, and engineering excellence; while getting things done.
• Take responsibility for high-scale systems to detect and address problematic content on Roblox. Operate creatively and strategically in a highly adversarial space.
• Own the team’s mission and outcomes. Work with stakeholders to define the team’s roadmap, and ensure execution.
• Partner with Moderation Operations, PM, Data, and stakeholders across Roblox, to develop innovative solutions that ensure the safety of user-generated content.

You Have:

• 2+ years of experience as an engineering manager working in ML space
• Excellence in collaborating with others, and in developing software engineers. You have demonstrated outcomes of facilitating team success.
• A proven track record of technical delivery in high-scale environments with complex constraints
• Ability to contribute to architecture and implementation discussions around high-scale ML systems
• Experience solving difficult problems involving both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range

$295,250—$345,040 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
