Role

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to join our team. This is a hybrid role based in the Bangalore office, reporting to the Director, Software Engineering. As part of the Central Authority department, you will lead the control plane engineering team for the "Zscaler Internet Access" (ZIA) product. You will help guide a fast-growing team managing a massively scalable product that has redefined how security services are delivered in the cloud.

What you’ll do (Role Expectations)

• Lead the end-to-end development, testing, deployment, and monitoring of the control plane engineering team for the Zscaler flagship SSE offering, Zscaler Internet AccessWork closely with cross-functional teams to manage changing priorities, ensure timelines, support escalations, and enhance collaboration between local and remote teams
• Lead by example through hands-on involvement, mentoring engineers to grow their skills, and overseeing critical tasks like code reviews, bug triaging, and build processes
• Maintain a customer-first mindset by participating in escalations, demos, and beta trials to deliver a product centered around an exceptional customer experience
• Hire, retain, and grow the team to be the best in the industry

What We’re Looking for (Minimum Qualifications)

• Overall experience of 12 to 15 years with 5+ years of managing a team of engineers in the security, cloud, or networking domains
• Experience managing large-scale, highly available distributed systems using C, Go, or Python
• Strong technical knowledge of networking protocols and services including DNS, HTTP, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS
• Proven track record of working collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as QA, Product Management, and Support
• BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science

What Will Make You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Direct experience with distributed systems and SaaS development
• Deep knowledge of FreeBSD or Linux-based networking solutions
• Experience with Zero Trust Security Service Edge (SSE) architectures
