We're looking for a hardworking and passionate Staff Software Engineer to join Wildlife's Live Games Tech Team in São Paulo.

Wildlife's Live Games Tech Team operates at a scale that few engineers get to experience: millions of daily active players, systems running 24/7, and technical decisions that shape what's possible for the entire product. As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be one of the most influential technical voices in one of our largest live games, reporting directly to the Technical Director.

This isn't an architecture-from-a-distance role. You'll be hands-on in the hardest problems — from system architecture and gameplay infrastructure to metagame logic and game economy, on both the mobile app and the server. Simultaneously, you'll be raising the technical ceiling for every engineer on the team. Your leverage isn't through authority. It's through judgment, technical excellence, and the decisions you help other people make better.

You won't have direct reports. What you will have is full ownership of the hardest technical challenges, the autonomy to drive real change, and the platform to shape how an entire engineering team grows. Our stack spans Unity/C# on the client, Go on the backend, and AWS with Kubernetes for infrastructure.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Define the software architecture for new features and systems, making pragmatic trade-offs between speed, quality, scalability, and long-term maintainability.
  • Lead complex technical initiatives end-to-end: from discovery and design through implementation, rollout, monitoring, and iteration.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director and tech leads to set technical direction and continuously raise the engineering bar across the team.
  • Own and evolve the game's operational health: SLIs/SLOs, incident response processes, and postmortem culture.
  • Mentor engineers at multiple seniority levels through code reviews, RFCs, and architecture discussions — with the explicit goal of developing the next generation of technical leaders.
  • Systematically identify and eliminate inefficiencies in engineering workflows, tooling, and developer experience.
  • Be a visible technical voice across the organization: design reviews, postmortems, engineering-wide initiatives, and cross-team influence.
  • Drive clarity on delivery: estimate efforts, support roadmap and sprint planning, and provide clear transparency on status and risks to key stakeholders.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Proven track record of leading complex technical projects spanning multiple teams or systems — from scoping to post-launch iteration.
  • Deep understanding of systems at scale: distributed systems, performance trade-offs, and operational complexity in production.
  • Experience in mobile software development or equivalent high-traffic, high-stakes product environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop senior engineers and drive engineering culture across a team.
  • Excellent communication: you can go deep with engineers and speak impact with technical directors and product leadership.
  • Working proficiency in English.

*NICE TO HAVE*

  • Hands-on experience with Unity/C# for mobile development and Go for backend services.
  • Experience with AWS and Kubernetes at scale.
  • Background in live game operations: observability, incident response, and release management at scale.
